Sunday Oct. 10, 2010. A Day of Rest and Reflection.

Glacier on the way to base camp

Khumbu Glacier

Mt Everest

This is how I slept at high altitude! I'm in the sleeping bag with my coat, hat and gloves on and I have asked the Tea House for an "extra " pink blanket!! Laura slept with her Canada Goose Downfeather jacket!! Note how narrow the ledge I was sleeping on. Nepalese are small people. In some Tea Houses we had to sleep on our sides to fit on the bed!!

Hilary on Saturday contemplating the climb to Base Camp. There was no trail. We just climbed over rocks!!

I did nothing this day and was quite happy about it. We stayed at Gorak Shep for one more night and I had the option to Trek to Kalapattar today. I opted to rest. My goal was to make it to base camp and I had accomplished that with NO acclimatization days and no rest along the way. There was a large group of us that opted for the rest.

Those that did climb the steep ascend, saw close up views of Mt Everest and said it was the most difficult climb of the Trek. I was still basking with my accomplishment of making it to Base Camp.
